Dec. 27th, 2008 10:01 pmSamuel P. Huntington died on 24 December. He was, for good and ill (more the latter than the former) one of the most significant influences in American political science for more than half a century. He got his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1952, and taught there the rest of his life. He played a significant role in shaping American policy towards the Third World in the 1960s, and towards China and the Muslim world in the post-Cold War period.
