All of this is excessive praise for the man who killed Mary Jo Kopeckne and walked away from even telling anyone. If he HADN'T been American royalty, just regular Joe Schmuck, he'd have been hit with manslaughter at least and dwi. He should have have served time at least.

He also defended his indefensible rapist nephew. There's lots of bad treatement of women as women in Ted Kennedy's life. And much of it alcohol driven.

Those aren't 'flaws.' And he's not a tragic hero.

He tried, maybe, then, to make up in his later years for his dissolute useless earlier years. But Mary Jo is still dead. The women are still sexually harrassed and raped.

Yes, he at least didn't possess the hypocrisy to compaign against abortion rights despite being a Catholic. The Kennedy Males Co. needed abortion far too often in each of their histories.
