not a long journey

beyond this day there comes a sharper turning
another road down which i have not gone
a different form of hope a different yearning
a different kind of victory will be won
it seems a miracle but is no more than work
done properly though that's a great surprise
after long waiting no one now would shirk
the chance to see thing with naked eyes
what seems like magic is just autumn light
but warmth approaches with the winter grey
for now there's not a thing that could affright
us as we look on the bright clear day
with nothing to expect but that we will
when all is said and done just meet the bill
