and still the glow

upon my soul there's been no ease
to my full heart these many days
i've not been warmed by solar rays
there's been no cooling in the breeze
it's summer so it will not freeze
hard light upon the leaves now plays
outside we see the brownish haze
what's here and now just will not please
but name the hap and it will be
another world and still more time
would not provide a better chance
than what we have so far from sea
as day now falters from the prime
our hearts still want to leap and dance
