what normal seems to be

most amazing not quiet but the sounds
of birds and frogs and insects in the night
looking towards a distant doorway light
past woods towards those well-kept grounds
there's no sense here of limits or of bounds
no disturbance even from the normal flight
of aircraft for once things are just about right
simple tranquility is what we find surrounds
us here and now the birds sit in the trees
the sun shines softly today is nicely cool
and on the street there are not many cars
so now i sit here for once truly at ease
banishing all thoughts of work and school
this is our place of safety from all wars
